A Word from Nathan

"These last two weeks were pretty crazy. Pastor Brian left for a furlough back to America. When I took him to the airport, I actually drove on the wrong side of the road, since we are in Uganda it’s the opposite side of the road. I took him to the airport and drove back. The house where I live is huge, and I’m all by myself which just completely sucks. I spoke at Grace Cathedral, in a place called Intinda. It’s a little city of its own, just 500 shillings away from Kampala. We were going to have another meeting about the CC Boise team that was coming, but they were selling a National Forest and some people didn’t like that idea, so they started to riot. It got really out of control. Two Indian people died, as well as a Ugandan. Everything is all better now though, at least we think they did some more rioting yesterday (Tuesday) over another issue though. We thought it was the same thing but it turned out it wasn’t. I pray you guys are all blessed back there thank you again -Nathan"  Email me anytime at Hey_pal@hotmail.com -Nathan

The Will of the Lord Prevails!

Jacqueline (sponsored by Karalyn Meeh)
Yesu Ishimwe!  (Praise Jesus!)  Today we enrolled Jacqueline in school!

It all began with a divine appointment that the Lord set up.  We leave our house at the same time every day, but the other morning we had a visitor and were delayed.  When we opened our gate, Jacqueline was standing there by herself.  She began walking with us.  We came across Pastor Francis standing in front of his house talking to the Vice President of the PTA at the local school.  “Ah!” Francis said, “Is this the girl who needs to be in school? The one that the Headmaster rejected twice?”  Earlier that week we had taken Jacqueline to the local school to ask if she can be enrolled starting the second term.  The Headmaster refused to allow her to enroll because neither parent had ever registered her birth with the government, which is a requirement, like a birth certificate. However, both parents refused to do this simple, free, and required task which broke the heart of a child who was so excited to finally have the chance to go to school.

As we stood there with Pastor Francis and the other man, he told the man Jacqueline's story, and they both agreed she should be in school.  Francis then told us that the two of them were scheduled to have a meeting with the Headmaster  the day before, but it had been rescheduled for that afternoon.  He told us to bring Jacqueline to school at 2:00.  After patiently waiting for 45 minutes, Jacqueline was called into the office.  She was asked to read, identify letters of the alphabet, and do some arithmetic while standing in front of the three men.  Poor thing!  She was so nervous!  They sent her outside, and she kept covering her mouth and smiling.  After several painfully long minutes and many silent prayers, the Headmaster agreed to enroll her.  When we told Jacqueline the good news, she stood with her mouth open in disbelief!  It was great!  We took her to the church office and got her a school uniform so she could attend school the next day.  She gave us the biggest smile!

This is truly a testimony to the power of your prayers and the faithfulness of our great God!

             Melissa prays with ABC Kids

This Saturday was another ABC day.  Five of the children committed their lives to follow Jesus. Two of these children were just visiting for the day.  Isn't the Lord great!

Our Week at a Glance

Our little friends down the street also stole the hearts of Melissa's mom Laquetta, and their friend Angie Pierce. Laquetta and Angie came to Rwanda for a nine day visit. They met the ABC children they sponsor, experienced the love of the people, and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of a country God blessed with such beauty.
