A Word from Nathan

"These last two weeks were pretty crazy. Pastor Brian left for a furlough back to America. When I took him to the airport, I actually drove on the wrong side of the road, since we are in Uganda it’s the opposite side of the road. I took him to the airport and drove back. The house where I live is huge, and I’m all by myself which just completely sucks. I spoke at Grace Cathedral, in a place called Intinda. It’s a little city of its own, just 500 shillings away from Kampala. We were going to have another meeting about the CC Boise team that was coming, but they were selling a National Forest and some people didn’t like that idea, so they started to riot. It got really out of control. Two Indian people died, as well as a Ugandan. Everything is all better now though, at least we think they did some more rioting yesterday (Tuesday) over another issue though. We thought it was the same thing but it turned out it wasn’t. I pray you guys are all blessed back there thank you again -Nathan"  Email me anytime at Hey_pal@hotmail.com -Nathan

ABC Children Visited

Diane Umutoniwase (sponsored by Mike & Lori Newman)

This week we traveled to three schools to visit some of our ABC children that live outside of this community. Diane lived in Kimironko, but because of the increasing cost of living in this area, Diane and her mother moved to Kinyinya, a village just outside the city. Her mother was able to rent a small house and find a small plot of land to farm. With this plot she is able to provide for her family. Kinyinya is not far from Kimironko, but due to lack of maintained roads, it took almost an hour to get there. Diane is doing well in school. She is one of several ABC children that have moved outside of Kimironko, which makes it difficult to attend the Saturday sessions.

Joy (right) is the daughter of Assistant Pastor Etienne and attends the school overseen by Youth With a Mission (YWAM). Pastor Etienne is also a teacher at YWAM's Discipleship Training Center in Remera where young adults are prepared for various aspects of ministry.

Ground Breaking on the New Children's Facility

For many years Pastor Francis has had the desire to construct a children's facility on the lot adjacent to his church. Every Sunday the church overflows with children. These children attend the Sunday School session from 9am - 10am. We've counted over 80 children in each of the two 9' x 9' classrooms for the Sunday School lessons. The children then attend the main service, which is almost three hours long. The children obviously struggle to sit through the service, and they can be a distraction to the adults as well.

Pastor Francis has a vision of a facility that will serve as a medical center, guest house, and recreation center for children. However, this project will require much financial support. For the time being, he has called on his church to help finance the smaller children's facility that broke ground this week. This facility will consist of four permanent classrooms and a large temporary meeting area for the children.

If you or anyone you know is physically or financially able to assist in these projects, please pray about how the Lord can use you. Also, you can contact Sean Lawrence at CCLH or by email: shannpubl@aol.com.
